Review by hotel critic
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Butchers, a lovely chalet tucked away that offered all the comforts of home. As an archaeologist often immersed in the ancient worlds of the Middle East, I relished the juxtaposition of my scholarly pursuits with culinary delights. The full English breakfast was a standout; quite possibly the best I’ve ever had, a fusion of tradition and taste that sets the tone for a day filled with adventure. I returned in the evenings, often exhausted from birdwatching trips around the area, and treated myself to meals prepared by their chef. The veggie options were particularly noteworthy—an unexpected delight that didn’t compromise on flavor. While the enclosed garden next to the chalet could use a bit of tidying, the cozy atmosphere of the pub more than compensated. The staff were accommodating, adjusting their schedule to fit my outings, which made for a comfortable stay. I also appreciated the tea and coffee-making facilities in the chalet, perfect for those early mornings. The Butchers provided a great blend of relaxation and gourmet experience—just what any traveling foodie would appreciate!
